High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. Good place to stop and eat but there are many other choices around... It's Ocean City, MD afterall. We pulled in because the traffic leaving OC was just insane! The server Devon was awesome! Very friendly and chatty. My son had Mac n Cheese (his favorite) of which he cleared his plate. My daughter had grilled chicken breast strips that were a bit over charred for a kids' menu item but she finished her broccoli that I thought was a bit mushy. Wife's grilled shrimp salad looked good and must have been tasty because she finished it. My Black n Bleu burger however was disappointing. It was smaller than my fist. It tasted fine but expected a bit more from it. Would have gotten a 2 stars if not for our server. Gave Applebees a try but I don't think I'd return to one again unless there were the only option around.

The food was nasty. I love Applebee's but this was thee worst experience. My 4 cheese Mac and cheese was disgusting. It was drenched in the cheese, all goooowy. And the server didn't do anything about it. It also came with a breadstick but he told me it didn't. Had to tell him to look at the picture. Then he brings a piece of BREAD over. Seriously, guess he didn't know what a breadstick was. And then he took forever with our check. This really topped the end of our trip with the food here in OC.

First, the host's are terrible and are never at the host stand to greet you and they never know where to seat you. As an experienced host your main priority is to seat the customers quickly, which is clearly not the case here. Second the dry humored waitress greeted us saying a little more that she should have with my children around. We order our food and my husbands steak came out undercooked so we sent it back and went it came back out it had clearly been microwaved. The kids food was average and mine was spinach dip had very stale chips along with it. Next time we will defiantly opt for something else even if we have to pay a little more because it's worth it. Keep driving....

Server was a comedian. Which was ok at first he just seemed to kinda push his limits. Food was good. Biggest issue was that we got the 2 for $20 and our main course came out literally 5 minutes after our appetizer. Give us some time to eat guys.

I stopped here with my friends during vacation, and I am never going back. Our waitress was lovely, so none of my issues are because of her. She tried her best to make us happy, and did what she could. I was in a party of four, and we were the only people in the restaurant aside from one, or two single parties. All of my friends got their food, and it was delicious. Their food was cooked thoroughly, and it looked amazing. When I got my food, however - steak, mashed potatoes, and broccoli - the food was cold. We called the waitress back, told her the issue, and she promptly apologized, and took my plate back to the kitchen. When she came back a few minutes later, the plate was extremely hot, but the potatoes were almost ice-cold in the middle. When your plate is hot, but the food is cold, you know it's been in a microwave. We told the waitress again, and she looked humiliated. I was sincerely about to ask if my friend (a certified chef) could go into the kitchen, and just cook my food for me. After my friends had finished their meals, I ended up just asking for a box. I might as well microwave it myself back at the condo, since that's all the restaurant cook was going to do. We also asked to speak to the manager, and I was less than impressed. He seemed like he didn't really care about our issue, and wasn't very willing to do anything for us in terms of apology. As I said, my issue was not with the wait staff. She was a lovely person. My issue is with the management, food, and the fact that the cooks think it's acceptable to just stick your food into a microwave for a few minutes.

It's Applebee's. Don't expect a 5 star dining experience. Food -good. Mixed drink -poor. (Long Island ice tea had more ice than Alaska ) . Staff good. Overall. Good.

We ate here out of desperation last night because we were late arriving to Ocean City and we wanted some drinks. I ordered one of the Weight Watchers meals called the "Roma Steak" and was greatly disappointed with it. The steak was way overcooked and tasted as though it had been soaking in something strange for quite some time. The picture of the meal showed the steak coming with roasted red potatoes but I received a regular white potato all chopped up. I guess it is my fault for trying to be health conscious and not ordering anything fried. My husband had an order of wings which were pretty tasty and a caesar salad that looked ok. He also enjoyed his beer and we both enjoyed the little shooter desserts. I don't really recommend this Applebee's (or any Applebee's) unless you are desperate.

MILES IS THE BEST SERVER! So welcoming and so sweet and very sweet! Did not make us feel like customers but as a family. Ask to be seated in his area! The food was amazing as well! Highly recommend the triple meltdown brownie as well.

Very disappointing. We got Curbside to go because of traveling with small children. I wish we would have been there so that I could have complained to a human! Food quality awful, undercooked steak, food presentation in those to go containers not good at wall, slow pickup service, menu selections seemed weak (In their defense I am a picky eater) We will not go to this one again and more than likely the chain for a few years. No value for the lack of quality and incredibly small portions. PS - Be sure to ask for all the condiments you might need when doing the Curbside to Go (extra butter, ketchup, salt/pepper, etc)

Stay away. We went there the 4th of July weekend around 10 PM. The food was cold, even the sizzlers were cold. Some of the beans were spoilt, the rice was uncooked and the service was horrible. Not even a proper apology after all these problems. STAY AWAY even if it is the last place open to eat.

been here 3 times in the passed year, get the 2 for 20 deal everytime. The food is always good, the loaded mashed potatoes are unbelievably amazing, and we had Jill as our server each time, without requesting her, and she is great. My friend ordered pasta that had tomatoes in it, she hates tomatoes, and Jill asked her if she wanted to the tomatoes or not! I love it when servers anticipate possible problems and act on it. Great place and great service!

I've been to this Applebee's several times over the last 3 years. I usually go for the 2 for $20 and get the steak and mashed potatoes. I love both. Don't know what they put in the mashed potatoes but they are hands down the tastiest I've ever had. This time though, I just wanted something light. I got the "new" small wedge salad, and french onion soup. The salad was plate-licking good. It had green goddess dressing, bacon crumbles, bleu cheese bits and pecans. I loved it so much that I decided to save about half of it to eat the next day, just so I could experience those flavors a second time. The waitress saw my half salad sitting to the side and asked me if I wanted her to take it away. I told her that if she touched it, I'd have to cut off her arm! As for the soup --- I'm a bit of a French Onion soup snob. It can't be too sweet, it can't have too many onions, too little cheese, or too much bread. It has to have that deep rich cooked-all-day quality to it. This one did. Not too salty, either. I rank it as about the 3rd best I've had since it could have used a shade more cheese and been kept under the broiler a little longer so that the cheese could carmelize a bit more. My daughter had the Napa Chicken Portobello. The red wine sauce was tasty, the chicken moist and tender, and the veggies were not overcooked. Overall very good. I don't know how Applebee's manages to get so much flavor into their food, but they do.
